One of my favorite emcee’s hailing from the UK, Sonny Jim dropped a dope Remix album to his banging “How To Tame Lions” album. I’m loving the beats on this joint, from the very start your neck will be crack from the boom bap dopeness! SonnyJim’s delivery and flow never disappoints. THIS IS HIPHOP!!!
Despite the great reviews, nods from tastemakers and tens of thousands of Youtube plays EATGOOD head honcho SONNYJIM still felt the Lions needed to be let out of hibernation a little early get given the remix treatment.
Leading the remix pack of all people is Illinformed; for those who don’t know Illinformed is Leafdog’s brother and has production duties for artists like Jedi Mind Tricks, Rass Kass, Lee Scott, Brothers Of Stone, Jman and more. Despite the brotherly link and similar penache for boombap Illinformed sample choices and drum pockets mean the siblings get busy but in different ways.
Also joining the fray are YNR mainstay Micall Parknsun and Sonny’s longtime collaborator Apatight.
If you had never heard the original “How To Tame Lions” you’d be hard pressed to be convinced these weren’t the original beats; each producer has given each track a brand new setting making them just as potent as their counterparts.
These remixes are available for a limited time as a free download from 01.01.2015 and can be purchased a few weeks into the new year.
Also included for good measure is an exclusive new Illinformed produced track “Bill Clinton”.
