It’s going to be an amazing facility. It’s had a bumpy start but the opening weekend was certainly memorable for all those who attended and it was wonderful to have Sam and Alise there to be a part of that. The track is built in a reserve that is at the top of the road Sam grew up on and is an amazing facility on a par with any other supercross track and that’s something to be proud of.

Re: your SWBMX article, delays in construction due to COVID lockdowns meant that the entire track was heavily delayed. Aside from a few media events no one (bar the track builders) had ridden the track at all until the Thursday, and it was only sealed on the Wednesday. They hadn’t managed to bitumen the turns either so they were solitac’d too but in a black finish. With a large amount of rain falling across the weekend it was always going to be bad. The water seeped under the sealed surface allowing it to flex and tear which just allowed more water in. (Continued…..)
