I love looking for good parts cheap. I'll spend hours looking for the right part at the right price. If I can get someone to haggle even better. I've had some parts waiting forever for the others to come along for a build.... But I'm also I'm patient lol

Felix my friend, we got a LOT in common. Medical BS is unfortunately one thing…… BUT this site is another and like you said, this website consists of a lot of the things I enjoy so for me, it helps me. I don’t dwell on stuff I don’t like. It helps me keep my PMA or my pos. mental attitude. Hahahaha / I can’t believe you scored that Haro for such a rad deal and I can’t get over how good of a deal you’re able to get those cranks for. I’m gonna catch up with you on the message board tomorrow, it’s getting late here and my wife has been keeping me from finishing this message that your reading hahahahaha….. It wouldn’t be difficult to achieve a similar effect. Just need a dremel rotary tool, an abrasive disc and steady hands. Have you seen daylights recent Facebook post with the engraved frame and forks? Now that would be sick!! I’d love to try something like that cos I tattoo and it can’t be so much harder than that.

Thanks for the reply dude.
Yeah, I’ve recently got back into riding after being diagnosed with a pretty shit health condition, so I’m doing a sort of reverse bucket list. Getting back into the things I really love and move my soul.
I raced competitively as a teenager here in the UK, Birmingham (not the one in Alabama) had a European championship track which was cool.
Anyway, 3 weeks ago I got my hands on a mint condition Haro Race Lite 24 cruiser, for about $200 (rough equivalent) I totally love my bike! I’ve changed all the nuts and bolts for titanium or alloy in blue and red, fitted a diacompe goldfinger lever, next couple of days getting either a Shimano Dix, Saint, or Hope Evo crank, all of which are around $50. I’m looking for a pair of Answer Dagger forks, or any carbon forks for 24”. They’re not easy to find here, and I don’t have a car to pick up ones far away.
As for the rest, I’ll eventually change the frame, but this one I’m thinking of satin black with holographic flakes, and getting the decals custom cut in that cholo LA gang/tattoo font style, and maybe instead of Haro, saying Hard…
That’s as far as I’ve got so far. I can’t work due to my illnesses so financial and physical limits apply. Riding again is really helping, exercising my lungs and cardio. Also my local track isn’t far. I’m not healthy enough to race, but I like to watch and ride the little pump track next to the main track.
Got to give Al Cayne crazy props for this site, bringing together all of my favourite things (the legal ones anyway..!) in one place. There isn’t another site quite like this one. I’m sure I’d have found it if it existed. Seems like the members here are mainly older dudes who’ve never lost the love for bmx. I might be the only one from England tho.
Well. Won’t bore you but thought I’d reply to your reply.
Peace bro.

Low budget bikes are my thing. I got a handful of bikes that I have put together and the fun in it for me is finding what I think is cool for a price that’s even cooler or trade. Money, I don’t have, but that’s ok because luckily for me….. I dig on the used market and there is plenty to choose from. For instance, I recently put together a CHASE RSP 3.0 24” pro cruiser complete for waaaaaay less than a modern frame. It took a while to save but there lies the fun in it for me. BUT…… it is all white and black and that’s cool but what I wanna do is what you were saying, something with the finish and I don’t know if I’ve got the guts to strip it down to bare metal and do the machining swirls but you got me thinking , if I could figure a way to clear it and have it look proper then I might but like you said…. That ain’t so easy. (Without spending $$$). Anyway, I went off on a tangent because I saw you wrote that you yourself are working on a budget build and I got all amped up hahahaha. Best of luck on your project and I hope it turns out the way you want it to.

Yeah, I totally love Daylight bikes, but imho they are WAY overpriced. I get it, small company, economies of scale, yah de ya, but really? Most bmx riders ain’t that rich. Also, cos I love the “machine turned” thing they do, I looked into it cos they I’m making a low budget cruiser, and all it takes is a Dremel and circular abrasive tip (oh, a steady hand and patience help)
Ceracoat however, that’s some tactical military shit, which I can’t fault.
that’s my tuppence worth old bean..!!

I was thinking the same thing because of the incredibly long list of options Daylight offers. They were given free reign to do whatever they wanted (but I’m sure there was a cap on it) some of the options are crazy expensive, like the brushed swirling they put directly on the frame prior to painting……..oh my god that’s cool. Even still, if think (I’m not 100% sure) but I do think the silver isn’t just plane ol silver. In one pic, it seems to be pearled which looks different at every angle. They nailed it and I agree, the lil touches with the hardware just finish it off proper. I think it’s BECAUSE Daylight offers so many options, every time I see one I’m looking to see some wild & unique paint scheme. This is proper
