D.U. (Da Union), are a hip hop collective hailing from Richmond VA. They have been making noise in the richmond area for over 10 years. They have released two projects. The first project came out in late 1997, it was titled the "Summer Reign Project."It received rave reviews from hiphopsite.com and the publication Rap Sheet. In March of 2000, D.U. was recognized on Blaze.Com (now defunct) unsigned section Streetdreams. Later on that summer they released a cd single titled "Dat Bump"/w "D U Sumthin". "Dat Bump" was a club record with a reggae feel, it received regular rotation at Power 92.1 in richmond for eight weeks.
In 2001 D.U. member Jo Doja landed a deal with March Entertainment/Priority Records. Doja was featured on the "Whats The Worst That Can Happen" Soundtrack (Martin Lawrence & Danny Devito movie), but his deal went sour when Priority Records and Capitol Records merged. Since then, Doja and other Union members Lil Roc, Mont-Gee and Sean Pee collaborated with the Supafriendz(Skillz, Lonnie B and Danja Mowf) on there two album releases: "The 804 Compilation" Vol. 1(2000) & "SupaVision" Vol. 2(2003).
Doja bounced back in 2006 releasing an independent album titled "More Than Music" on Danja Mowf's Country Boy Music label. Now D.U. is back on the grind to put richmond rap in the forefront, with their full length LP "The Album That Neva Wuz."
