Yep, you definitely need to already have some skills to make this bike do what you want it to. I did actually take this bike on the track 100% stock at first. It did way better than I expected when I did it then. But now with the changes/upgrades it's much better now. Rims usually don't get taco'd until you start doing 360's and 180's and stuff like that, also staying smooth helps. Back in the day my rims were fine until I tried 360's. Rims taco'd on first try LOL! Part quality overall these days are way better than back in the day. This bike still has the stock wheels on and I've been to several trails and the track and not all my runs are smooth lol. I did a lotta hacking that would've finished one of my old school bikes. I have a few more tweaks to do. I can't wait to make more videos with it.

This was a cool test but I’m more inclined to think that when bikes like this are ridden like like this , it has more to do with the skill set of the rider and I’m basically basing my opinion on the pros back in the day that rode the skinny wheels, I’m not sure if they were the 1-3/8 or 1.5 but they were able to get away with it because they rode really smooth and had flow so they didn’t taco the rims like most riders would have. So of course someone with years of experience and flow on the track is gonna be able to milk every bit of BMX genealogy out of any bike ridden outside of its comfort zone or design designation. Having said all that, it is without question that when a bike is in fact ridden by someone with that level of control and skill on a race track, that bike is going to feel it and clearly this bike did. The modifications that you made to the bike clearly made it feel more to your liking and that is a big part of getting any bike, personalizing it - making it your which only helped in doing what this was all about in the first place and that was to see if this bike could handle this type of beating and it clearly can. I still say the riders skillz are a major factor but this bike handled it all….. now that’s what I’m talkin bout hahaha

Coming along quite nicely. Glad it's holding up!. Also I rock this g-form knees/shin pads too. I've got two pairs so at nationals I don't have to make it to wash em right away for day two if they stink. Very good purchase!
