Redline Vintage BMX recently posted photos of rock legend Slash sitting on a fresh RL40! One of the photos shows “Slash” stamped on the bottom of the bottom bracket and I was like OH SNAP!! You know that caught my attention.

If you didn’t already know Slash has deep roots in BMX. Before all the Rock N Roll superstar stuff he was a BMXer who raced and did tricks. I did an article about Slash’s BMX roots a few years ago. You should check it out. I love stuff like this!

I had the pleasure of filming with @slash for a BMX history project I’m actively working on during the week before Christmas. What an incredible guy with a relatable and authentic BMX origin story set to the backdrop of 1970s Los Angeles. We talked about street riding spots, motivations, community, NBA racing, and the reason that this era of BMX still remains culturally significant to so many of us. More on the project in 2026. And plenty more from Redline Vintage as the new year gets underway.
. As a token of appreciation I presented him with a special RL40 as a Christmas gift. ~Redline Vintage BMX
I can’t wait to check out this BMX history project! Stay tuned!
