The Most Unique BMX Frame Dropout List

In BMX there’s a saying, “You can’t do much with just two triangles” but these racing frames prove that saying wrong. The rear dropout is where you’ll find a lot of variety in style and technology. There are frames that have integrated disc mounts, integrated derailleurs and internal chain tensioners. And they all do it with their own unique style.

Below is a list of some of the best and flyest looking rear dropouts in the game. This is a live list so you can “thumbs up” all the dropouts you like and see where they rank. (Refresh the page to see the results after voting)

#1 Syndyt SYB 225

What do you think of our integrated chain tensioning system? Complete with dials, and set screws. We think they're

Syndyt frames come equipped with integrated chain tensioners for easy and precise adjustments, eliminating the hassle of traditional setups. The flexibility of multi-size rear axle choices allows riders to customize their BMX for various tracks and riding styles, putting control firmly in your hands.

#4 Daylight Arc C2

Experience the ARC’s vertical sliding drop-outs on the track and in your workshop and you’ll never go back to a horizontal slot rear drop-out. Other frames responded with fixed rear axles and idler spring arms to solve disc brake mount, axle creep and drive-train alignment issues, but even those with some wheel base adjustment simply don’t give you much compared to the width of our large “drop-slot”  — without the dangling idler and the excess chain. Our integrated disc caliper mount, stainless (or optional titanium) chain ring style slider bolts and “drop-saver” frame washers, and integrated titanium 4mm tensioner screws make the ARC the most precise in BMX for achieving perfect chain alignment/tension and the easiest to remove and reinstall a rear wheel with no readjustment necessary.

#5 2023 Meybo HSX

Changing gearing, whether it's during training, or to give you an advantage at a certain track, is incredibly important. Moving your wheel & adjusting your chain length to adapt to those gearing however, is not good.

Meybo solves the problem with a fixed rear wheel and a unique chain tensioner system to give you a smooth chain with proper tension no matter what.

#10 2024 Stay Strong V5

Tim Drew gave me the heads up on this 2024 Stay Strong V5 dropout and I gotta say this is one of my favorite. I wish there was a high rez photo but you get the idea. It's another enclosed dropout with integrated chain tensioners. It also looks like it must have propietary disc brake mounting system. Im digging the embossed "RACE DVSN" and the 5 slot cut outs for weight saving and extra style points. I wonder what the rest of the frame looks like.

#13 COMMENCAL BMX P038

Commencal BMX P038: The state-of-the-art dropouts are machined and offers an option of the wheel position change. Thanks to the dropout integrated FlipFlop the chainstay length (392mm in mid position) might be adjusted by 8mm in total. (-4mm, 0, +4mm). To make things user-friendly the flatmount brake adapter position is indexed to the FlipFlop position making the brake set up extremely precise.

#14 Speedco Velox EVO

Our flat mount design attaches the brake caliper to the inner axle block and internally routes the brake hose through the inside chainstay. It slides with the wheel and fastens to the frame with a 4mm screw on the outside of the chainstay. Axle compatibility is 10mm, 15mm or 20mm and rotor compatibility is 140mm.

The drive side is offset at the dropout to accommodate our internal chain tensioner while the seatstay has been raised to eliminate chain slap when running taller gear ratios.

#24 Inspyre CONCORDE V2

ON THE CONCORDE V2 WE HAVE INTEGRATED THE SWELL REAR LUG. A CLOSED REAR BRACKET DEVELOPED HERE IN-HOUSE SINCE 2017. IT OFFERS A 25MM ADJUSTMENT RANGE. THIS ALLOWS YOU TO ADJUST THE GEOMETRY OF THE FRAME TO YOUR RIDING STYLE AND THE MAPPING OF THE TRACK. THE SWELL DROPOUT IS 25% STIFFER THAN THE DROPOUTS FOUND ON THE FIRST GENERATION OF CONCORDE FRAMES. ITS SHAPE ALLOWS YOU TO WELD THE SEATSTAYS TO THE TOP OF THE DROPOUT AND THUS PROVIDE EVEN MORE RIGIDITY.
