We had another nice day in NY so I took advantage of it and practiced some gates with the Freshpark “Fast Start“! This was my second time using the gate and I’m already getting better at my starts. It really helps me with my form and since I’m using it on a flat surface I’m hoping to get more power out the gates at the BMX Tracks.
As you can see in the video I have the activation pedal almost under my rear wheel. I have it tuned precisely to my bike. The three points of adjustment on the Fast Start gave enough play to get the setting just right. I literally just have to nudge back a tiny bit to activate the gate. I’m starting to get it to the point where I’m already going forward before the gate hits the ground. Once I spent less time trying to get out the gate as fast as I could and focused more on nudging back following up with better form out the gate, my starts started getting better.
I never use to focus on gate at all, my gate starts were pretty bad lol!! But the Fast Start really has me addicted to practicing gates. I have a long way to go before I’m really good at it but I’m feeling better every time I use it. Next I’ll have to translate all this gate practice to the gates at the tracks. Stay tuned for more videos of my experience with the Fresh Park Fast Start.

On a side note, I like this video because it a really nice showcase of my bike!! It’s a Hyper Bicycles Mission 1 with Skyway forks, Elevn Stem & Bars, Snafu seat/post combo, Truth BMX seat post clamp, Kingstar Headset with Truth BMX spacers, Vee Speedster Tires, Excess 351 Wheels, Snafu Grips, Snafu Pedals, Rennen Sprocket, SE Bikes chain tensioners and Bombshell brakes. I’m also rocking a Profile Crank arm on the sprocket side and a mid school GT crank arm on the other lol!!
