Homeboy Sandman does it again with another Hip Hop gem! This time he gives us his 2 cents on the dilemma of breaking up. Basically he’s saying when it gets to a certain point in a relationship where it’s not working out, it’s Time To Go. In the first verse Sandman gives his advice to the fellas. The second verses is for the ladies and the third verse is for anyone in general.
I’m feeling the loop from “When It’s Time to Go” by Buddy Fo & His Group used in the song. It perfectly fits the mood and subject matter. THIS IS HIP HOP!!
“Time To Go will be featured on Homeboy Sandman’s upcoming album “Nor Can These Be Sold”(At Least By Me). It’s the 3rd in a series of album projects filled with songs that HS can’t officially release but are super dope! The album drops on October 18th via Bandcamp.
Lyrics:
For Pete’s sake
That chick is out the door you need to make you a clean break
She’s the type that liked to make a nightmare out of your dreamscape
Don’t make the same mistake that inexperienced teens make
Don’t call, don’t text
Don’t still try to be friends or you’re bound to be vexed
Any hanging out just dragging out your worst days
Don’t be calling her for holidays or birthdays
Try to see the big picture
I know it seems like no one else gon ever get wit ya
But homegirl dissed ya
Lookin at her pics ain’t gon fix ya
My bro
It’s gonna take some time while time moves slow
But yo it’s time to grow
Believe me yo it’s time to go
Homegirl
You gotta stop acting like that dude was your whole world
Take you a break then find you a tighter fit
You used to complain about him quite a bit
I knew that that cat’d leave ya
He’d disregard mad needs but now you got amnesia
I know that being put on the shelf hurts
But have a little self worth
Put yourself first
Stop regretting everything you fell for
Don’t bend no benefits or perks
You are not his little helper
You been dealt a blow
But you gonna find your glow
If anybody asks if that’s your beau the answers no
Cause it’s time to go
If a relationship has run its course
Don’t beat a dead horse
If you can’t make up don’t get out of sorts
Break up or get a divorce
There are more fish and ponds
There are more brides and grooms
Move on
Time heals all wounds
Don’t write don’t speak
Count a couple sheep
Or cry yourself to sleep
Get thin get fat
Just whatever you do, don’t go back
When a friend become a foe
Stay away from the phone
Gotta go with the flow
Heal your heart and your mind lay low
It is time to go
