Huffy BMX Racer Ethan Popovich Wins U23 National Championship Title

Ethan Popovich brings down the house with a sick pass, taking him to win the 2025 U23 National Championship Title!! It all went down at the USA BMX Legacy Nationals at Hardesty National BMX Stadium in Tulsa, Oklahoma. EPOP had a bad gate start in the main and was in third place for the first two straights. But then he put his super pump boosters on and pumped his way into first place. He’s been doing awesome moves like this all season making the U23 and 17-20 expert class one of the most exciting classes to watch. This marks the first big win of the year for Ethan and also for his sponsor Huffy Bicycles! Huffy’s new V2 prototype frame is making it’s mark with the help of Ethan and the rest of the Huffy team. This is an exciting time for the brand and I’m looking forward to see how the rest of the season plays out. Congrats to Ethan a Huffy!

PRESS RELEASE:

DAYTON, Ohio – May 12, 2025 – United Wheels, the parent company of Huffy, Niner Bikes, Batch Bicycles and Buzz eBikes, today announces that Huffy rider Ethan Popovich has won the U23 National Championship title at the 2025 Legacy Nationals.

Popovich’s win writes a new chapter that BMX fans and riders everywhere won’t soon forget. In a weekend packed with adrenaline and elite-level racing, Popovich’s raw determination and race-day resilience were on full display, demonstrating once again why he’s one of the most electrifying talents in BMX and a role model to the current and next generation of riders.

“I worked incredibly hard and I’m very proud of the win and to be on the Huffy BMX team,” said Popovich. “I had a good feeling and was dealt just about every card throughout the race. The motos were a tough start, but I flipped the switch and started fresh. The level of riding across the field was really impressive.”

“We’re beyond proud to have Ethan carrying the Huffy banner. His heart, hustle, and humility represent everything we believe in, and he’s all about inspiring young riders to get into riding BMX,” said Michael Gonzalez, BMX Category Manager, United Wheels, and former BMX Race Pro. “This podium represents his drive and that Huffy’s BMX bikes are world class.”

“Ethan has been working extremely hard on improving his starting prior to this event, sending me videos almost daily,” added Nic Long, 2x BMX Olympian and Huffy BMX Team Manager for race and freestyle. “Come race day, he shook off the previous laps and laid it all on the line for the main. He showed grit and determination. It was an awesome day to witness.”

Popovich joined the Huffy BMX team in early 2025 and rode the Huffy V2 prototype of the pro BMX race frame that the brand hopes to release later this year. “Ethan’s track speed on his Huffy V2 Prototype frame was on another level to help him make key passes to secure the national title,” said Gonzalez.
