Shad is one of the few emcees that I stop and listen to whenever they release new Hip Hop treats and I’m glad I stopped and listened to “Islands”. I was in love with joint as soon as the smooth boom bap beat dropped. Dotan Bergman and DATSUNN crafted tune which primarily features a smooth guitar, bass and a chill break beat pattern on the drums. Shad’s bars are on point, conscious and thought provoking. TLO makes the song complete with his soulful vocals.
“Islands” is featured on Shad’s upcoming album “Start Anew” dropping October 31st. I’m looking forward to checking this out when it drops. My dude Homeboy Sandman is also featured on a track. Can’t wait to hear that one. In the meantime, you can check out two more joints from the album below.
