Radio bike builds are something we don’t normally see on Bike Of The Day. So I was excited to feature on the site. This bike was actually submitted a while ago but I think now was the perfect time to feature it. This Radio Solar Pro was submitted by Cliff Bergstrom and there’s a wonderful story behind it. This is a Radio Solar Pro L that I built for my wife, Patti Bergstrom. Last year was her first season to race nationals, and second year on a BMX bike. This is her trophy bike for all her hard work earning a N.A.G. plate. ~Cliff Bergstrom
This Ain’t Your Typical Grandmother’s Bike.
Twenty plus years ago we introduced our kids to Cowtown BMX. As things sometimes go, life happens, our kids got busy, we got busy and we lost touch with BMX. As the years rolled along our kids began to have kids of their own and we became Granddad and Gaga. Wanting to make the time with our grandkids to be special, we dusted off our kids old BMX bikes, tuned them up and took the grandkids out to Cowtown BMX. Only this time we decided to not merely sit on the sidelines.At first it was just my husband riding with them, until one day, one of grandkids said “let’s go Gaga, take a lap with me” I was hooked! My first year of racing, I did the Texas State Championship series with the oldest grandson. We made it in the top ten in our age groups and made some amazing memories along the way. I decided this past year I wanted to try for the Nationals. It was a tough year; lots of crazy talented and inspiring women, but it was so much fun and I ended up earning a NAG 15.
This beautiful Galactic Purple Radio was my reward. My husband did such an astonishing customizing every detail to my exact fit and liking. See you at the track. ~Patti Bergstrom
