The folks over at Kali Protective has this new full face helmet called KRU. It’s basically an MTB helmet with some football helmet inspiration. The Kru is ASTM-certified for downhill, and is said to “end the tradeoff between downhill level protection and the lightweight, breathable comfort trail riders want on the climbs”. In my opinion it’s also a tradeoff of looks but it’ll definitely turn heads.
The cool part about the helmet is the titanium chin bar isn’t just an add-on. It actually frames the helmet 360° and is integrated with the shell itself, rather than bolted or clipped on. The biggest drawback is that the superior air flow design of the helmet is definitely going to lead to more debris, dust, bugs, etc in your face. But with that said, I’d love to try one and take it to the BMX track and trails
