2017 GT BMX Product Line Launch @5050Skatepark (300+ Photos)

Ben Ward 2017 GT BMX Launch

The 2017 GT BMX Product line launch event was great! The event went down at 5050 Skatepark in Staten Island and a who’s who of BMX media outlets were invited to get their first looks at the product.

We started off the day by checking out the new bikes and kicking it as we enjoyed some nice breakfast snacks and some of the best Doughnuts we’ve ever tasted. We heard the doughnuts were made by Dun Well Doughnuts in Brooklyn, we have to check that spot out!!

Next up GT Product Manager Ben Ward did a great presentation on all the bikes. What we really like about the bikes were all the details about each model that made them special. Another great thing about the new line is all the bikes look really nice with more colorway options. At first glance it was hard to tell the entry bikes apart from the pro and team bikes, which was cool. We were also really exited to see the legendary GT Performer back in action!

When it came time for Ben to talk about the team signature bikes he had BK, Jason Phelan jump in and talk about their models. It was cool to hear the riders themselves talk about their inspirations behind their signature bikes.

After the presentation was over we all had the opportunity to take photos of the bikes and do interviews and bike checks. The vibes were great and everyone was excited about the new GT BMX collection. Around 2pm was when the park opened to the public and the Jam stated. There was some awesome riding going down and at the end GT gave out some dope raffle prizes.

Crazy Al Cayne filmed a bunch of bike check videos from the event which we’ll be posting soon but for now check out our photo gallery below.

We really like the direction GT has gone with the 2017 product line and we look forward to see kids shredding the spot with them.

We want to give a big shout out and thank you to Chris Hopwood for inviting us the event! We had a great time and the bikes are awesome!
