Anderson .Paak once worked at a Vans retail store in Topanga Canyon, CA, but now the GRAMMY-winning artist just announced a capsule collaboration with his old employer 😉 The collaboration takes the Sid DX and Old Skool DX kicks updated with design cues inspired one Paak’s albums. The sneakers are also accompanied by matching bucket hats.
The Sid pays homage Malibu, Paak’s 2016 album that made him a superstar. Features on the kicks are a psychedelic, warped black print constructed of fluffy chenille fabric. Cream is the color of choice for the sole and a green Vans Flying V logo is located on the quarter panels. “Yes Lawd!” is spelled out across the inner heels, giving a nod to .Paak and producer Knxwledge’s “NxWorries” album.
Paak’s 2014 major label, debut album “Venice“, is the inspiration on the Old Skool DX. This set features a yellow, blue and black upper that mixes digital prints with 3D printing techniques for a cool look. Other features are blue eyestays and a semi-translucent, teal vinyl brand stripe.
.Paak has also been named Vans’ first “global music ambassador,” and will help the brand spotlight new musical talent as a judge for the Vans Musicians Wanted competition.
You can get the Anderson .Paak and Vans Sid DX, Old Skool DX and bucket hats when they release globally on the Vans webstore on November 13. Prices range from $40-$110 USD.
