I love it when somebody submits a bike with an awesome story behind the build! And the story behind this 1994 Pr1mo Pro XL is a really good one. Not only is it a great story but the bike build itself looks amazing! This bike was submitted by Richard Kerr, owner Rumblefish and this is his third submission to the Bike Of The Day series. Check out the story behind his Pr1mo and give it a rating/review via the comment section below.

There is some confusion and misinformation about this frame. This frame has been sold under two different brands. It was first sold as a Kuwahara and then rebranded as a Pr1mo.
Back in 1992 A company called C&S distributing (a bmx parts wholesale company) bought the licensing rights from Kuwahara Japan to build Kuwahara bmx frame and forks.
When I found out I talked to one of the sales reps for C&S and asked if they had a design for the frame and fork and he said no. We worked out a deal for me to design the frame and forks and have 5 prototypes made. I was building my own brand at the time Rumblefish.

I used Arc & spark to build the prototypes. They were building Rumblefish frames for me at the time.
C&S named it the Kuwahara Champion Series. A year or two later C&S no longer wanted to pay licensing fee to Kuwahara. So they relabeled the frames as Primo, this was their house brand at the time. When I made the deal to design the frame I should have asked for a frame and fork as part of my payment but for some reason I didn’t.

I found this frame an online and bought it. I built this up as a Kuwahara because that is what the frame was when I designed it. I also added Primo and Rumblefish logos to cover the history the frame. From the beginning to the end. I’ve dubbed it the pr1mohara fish. The last picture is of the original blueprint that I used to pitch the frame and fork design to C&S and get the job. Also I modified the frame. I converted the 1” head tube to an 1 1/8” integrated head tube. ~Richard Kerr
